John Tyson, CFO of Tyson Foods, was arrested again Thursday on charges of DWI and reckless driving.
After the arrest, Tyson Foods said he had been suspended from that position.
Booking information from the Washington County Detention Center shows Tyson was arrested at 1:32 a.m. Thursday and released nine hours later at 10:41 a.m.
A report from the University of Arkansas Police Department said he was stopped around 1 a.m. after police saw him speeding, make an improper turn and go off the road and onto the curb and grass.
Police said he smelled of alcohol and failed a field sobriety test. Tyson told police he drank five to seven beers.
Tyson was arrested and taken to the Washington County Detention Center. Tyson submitted to a chemical test that showed a BAC of 0.191 at 1:57 a.m.
He will appear in court on July 15.
He is facing charges of DWI, improper turn/turn and careless driving.
We reached out to Tyson Foods and received the following statement: “We are aware that John Randal Tyson, Chief Financial Officer of Tyson Foods, was arrested for a suspected DWI. Tyson Foods has suspended Mr. Tyson from his duties effective immediately and named Curt Calaway as interim Chief Financial Officer.”
Previous arrest
This is not the first time John Tyson has been arrested in Fayetteville. He pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges in Fayetteville District Court last year.
A college-aged woman found a strange man sleeping in her bed when she returned home early one morning in November 2022, according to a police report.
The woman called the police. The man was identified as Tyson, and he was arrested and taken to jail.
He apologized to investors in a phone call after the arrest, saying he was committed to making sure it never happened again.
John R. Tyson, a fourth-generation member of the Tyson family, was hired by the Tyson Company in 2019.
